Hot for hotwheels!

I have this vision of being some fabulous artist...not of the paint and paper sort, but of fabric. I love to create unique items especially if I can use upcycled materials. I found this hotwheels sheet years ago at a thrift store and could see the possibilities - a quilt for a nephew maybe? But when I came across this free pattern for a toddler backpack on indietutes I just had to use the hotwheels fabric to make one. This pattern was very simple to do and I love that it has no zippers! There's and easy open overlapped flap that will be so easy for Levi to put things in and out. It didn't call for lining it, but I did anyway which wasn't too hard. Next time I think I will use a thinner interfacing as it was really hard to press nice clean lines using the heavier kind. This designer was particularly generous as she allows you to sell these as well. I'm thinking you may see a few more of these at the farmers markets and in my Etsy shop!
